The message of Jesus is uplifting and promises eternal life. For those who can stay focused upon the prize in Christ’s salvation, life on earth, regardless the tumult and turmoil that is here, can be wonderful. This is not a utopian pie in the sky mindset. This attitude is born from a spiritual fullness provided by the indwelling of Christ (Jn 14:20), the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 3:16) and God the Father (Eph 4:6). This is a real faith filled existence. With God in you, life on earth is bearable regardless the persecution.
The indwelled believer is a threat to the world’s unbelieving populace and their personal desires for debauchery. Jesus knew this and said on many occasions that because we believe in Him, we will suffer persecution. Salvaiton convicts those around it through a testimony of purity. The worldly hate anything that challenges their personal desires, they claim a relative morality. Natural man especially despises the personal conviction of a Christian. The main reason is not the Christian themself, although the person will receive the persecution just as Abel received Cain’s hateful rage. The main reason natural man attacks a child of God is conviction, the worldly knows they are accountable to God and that the Christian represents that submission. Submission is opposite of rebellion, the natural reaction an unsaved person has toward God. An arrogance that will be man’s undoing.
Ladies and gentlemen, Jesus knew all these things. He had already been persecuted, chided, ridiculed and received false accusations by the time He healed the blind man. Jesus would receive much more. He also knew we as believers would suffer persecution and the attacks of Satan through his soldiers, the natural man.
Today, we are again placed in a position to either choose to soften our witness, conform to the world, obey the dictates of man over our conviction in Christ or face ostracization, receive verbal ridicule or “revile you, and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely.” (Matt 5:11b)
Those of the world know little of God’s forgiveness in Christ. The standard response to any Christian morality is to pick apart their lives in an effort to discredit them. The unbeliever’s attacks should steel the resolve of the Christian as they now know they are suffering, “ (Matt 5:11c)
Today we are seeing the enactment of Revelation 13:17, “no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” (Rev. 13:17) Scripture says that the number of his name is the number of man. Though there may come a literal and very clear number (666) or mark tomorrow, the number of man is money today. To function in our economy and in life at all, one must have an income. This basic function of man is now being used against the christian in a fulfillment of the scriptures. Bakers, florists, wedding planners and soon Daycares are being forced to conform to the world and their hyper sexual fixation.
But we are pilgrims, we do not belong here, we’re not trying to stay. We’re only trying to share our joy with others. Love them Christian.
