The eternal messenger was even more innocent than this little kitten, they crucified Him for bringing a message of peace, love and eternal salvation.

If you are a person that loves to deliver news to others, you must have a stout heart. We always shoot the messenger. In John 7:11-24 Jesus heads to the Feast of Tabernacles and there are many who want to discredit this messenger of salvation. The leaders of Israel were angry because they perceived Jesus as a threat. Jesus taught that only God the Father not god the ceremony, or god the spiritual leader is worthy of worship, attention and love. They hated that He was the Messiah because what good can come from Nazareth (John 1:46)? The people that disliked Jesus disliked Him because He refused to be their king on earth, He wanted them to have a different view. These people stirred negative emotions and questionable character through gossip.

One might think that this is directed at the person Jesus. That is not necessarily the truth. The message is the problem, not the messenger. The circumstances have to change. People have to change their ideas, their motives, their desires, their whole lives to align with God’s ideas, motives, desires and ways. Jesus was telling them that everything they were learning about was potentially a lie, and the motives of all their leaders were definitely impure and ungodly (Romans 3:13).

Jesus simply stayed on message. Jesus stayed true in His character. Jesus called them out in public when they confronted Him in public. Jesus continued to tell the truth about the Father regardless what everyone around Him tried to say about Him. Through the tremendous pressure, the threats to His life, He distanced himself from the mire and muck.

All this turmoil developed from a message that said do not fear or be tied to the things of the world, instead fear the Father in Heaven, align yourself only with Him. His message, His desire, His love is displayed through His Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. Though Jesus had done no wrong, He is known as an honest man, a man never having broken the law. He was spiritually pure and obeyed the laws of the day. However, when He began talking about being the Messiah and delivering Israel from their sin, asking them to change allegiance making heavenly things the hub of their existence, the things of God their core instead of laws, men and religion they determined to destroy Him.

Concern yourself with the things of God and He will take care of you. Don’t shoot the messenger, he is simply there to encourage you to change for God’s glory.
